Clinical nutrition, obesity and weight control
A medical programme for losing weight and keeping it off, and for eating well when you have a health condition that depends on it.
Most people who come to me about their weight have already tried several diets. They usually lost weight, and then regained it. That is not a personal failure — it is what happens when the body defends its weight and the plan doesn't account for it. Obesity is a chronic medical condition, and it responds to the same things other chronic conditions respond to: assessment, treatment, and follow-up.
Who this is for
- Adults who are overweight or living with obesity and want a medical, not commercial, approach
- People with diabetes, prediabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or fatty liver who need nutrition to be part of their treatment
- People who have regained weight after dieting or after bariatric surgery
- Anyone whose eating pattern is disrupted by travel, shift work or Ramadan and wants a plan that survives real life
- Patients recovering from illness or surgery who need nutritional support
How the programme works
- AssessmentMedical history, medications, previous attempts, eating and sleep patterns, body composition measurement, and blood tests if they haven't been done recently. We agree on a realistic target and the timeframe.
- Your planA written eating plan based on food you actually eat, an activity plan matched to your fitness and any joint or heart issues, and — where appropriate — a discussion of weight-loss medication, its benefits and side effects.
- Follow-upIn the clinic or by video. We track weight and body composition, adjust the plan, deal with plateaus early, and manage any medication.
- MaintenanceThe part most programmes skip. Spaced-out visits for the following year, so weight that came off stays off.
What I don't do
I don't sell supplements, meal replacements or "detox" products, and I don't prescribe very-low-calorie diets without medical supervision. If bariatric surgery would serve you better than anything I can offer, I'll say so and refer you to a surgeon I trust.
